When You Say Dog - Say Durham!

The Official Website of Durham Haus Working Dogs of Arkansas since 1996

Department of Corrections - "Tobacco Dogs"

In the State of Arkansas, tobacco is not allowed on the premises or property of any Department of Corrections facility. Because of the difficulty of locating contraband on a person or their belongings, it can easily go undetected. Today, the price of cigarettes in a corrections facility is very high. You can't imagine what a carton of cigarettes is worth. This has made cigarettes among the top contrabands in our correctional facilities.

Fortunately, there is a solution. Properly trained "Tobacco Dogs". Many prisons have forgotten the many uses of a good dog.

Because of Durham Haus's knowledge of the Olfactory Senses capabilities, "Tobacco Dogs" are in. Finding the trainer who truly understands these smell senses of the K-9 is difficult.

No, trainers aren't kicking doors down at the correctional facilities. Because, just as yourself, this is a first for the trainer reading this now.

Most Departments of Correction are afraid to use different dogs in their correctional facilities because of past bad experiences with dogs that should not have been there in the first place. Same goes for the trainer that claims he can train a Corrections dog.

It's been unfair for many Correctional Facilities because of inferior dogs and trainers. Durham Haus Working Dogs has advised and assisted Correctional Institutions with such problems.

Durham Haus Working Dogs offers both the "Cell Extraction Dog" and the "Tobacco Detection Dog" as being most efficient for a number of prisoners. These dogs are capable of locating tobacco and for heading up the extraction teams.

NOTE: Not all dogs can do this work, Most trainers haven't had an idea, until now, what is going on in the prisons today. This is why it is so important for a Corrections Department to have good K-9 Handlers and masterfully trained dogs for their use. If all dogs and trainers could do the work, the prisons would be well taken care of. Think about it, they're not. You need a Durham Haus Dog.
